• Sakura Japan Festival 2025 – A Blossoming Celebration of Japanese Culture at Niko Hotel, Kochi

The Sakura Japan Festival 2025, hosted at Niko Hotel, Kochi, bloomed into a vibrant celebration of Japanese culture, community, and connection. Held on October 12th, 2025, the festival welcomed guests from across Kerala and beyond to experience a day filled with authentic Japanese traditions, art, and friendship.

From the graceful tea ceremony to the intricate art of origami, every moment of the event captured the essence of Japan’s timeless beauty. Guests were immersed in a cultural journey that brought the spirit of Japan to life right here in Kochi.

    A Day of Cultural Discovery

The day began with a serene Tea Ceremony (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM), where participants learned the art of mindfulness and hospitality that defines Japanese tea culture. The aroma of freshly whisked matcha set a peaceful tone for the morning.

Next came the Kimono Dressing Session (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM) — a highlight for many. Guests had the unique opportunity to try on elegant kimonos, guided by experts who explained the cultural significance of each fold and tie.

In the afternoon, creativity took center stage with Calligraphy (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM) and Origami Workshops (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM) running simultaneously. Laughter, learning, and artistry filled the hall as participants crafted delicate paper cranes and wrote Japanese characters with brush and ink.

Meanwhile, food enthusiasts joined the Japanese Cooking Mini-Class (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM), where they learned to prepare simple yet authentic Japanese dishes under expert guidance. It was a hands-on experience that delighted both the senses and the soul.

    An Evening to Remember

As the sun set, guests gathered at the Roof Gardens of Niko Hotel for the Dinner Party (7:00 PM onwards) — a warm and joyful closing to the festival. With soft lights, live music, and cheerful conversations, the evening brought together people from diverse backgrounds who shared a love for culture and community.

Though the dinner menu wasn’t Japanese, it was a delicious celebration of togetherness — perfectly ending a day that was both educational and heartfelt.

    A Grand Success

With an overwhelming turnout and enthusiastic participation, the Sakura Japan Festival turned out to be a huge success. Families, students, and culture enthusiasts all came together to experience Japan’s charm — right here in Kerala.

The event was organized by Niko Hotel in collaboration with Ogawa Japanese Café, both of whom share a deep appreciation for cultural exchange between India and Japan.

From the warm smiles of guests to the beautiful photographs shared online, the festival left lasting memories and strengthened cultural bonds.
