Fort Kochi is one of the favourite tourist destinations in India. The main highlight of Fort Kochi is the heritage edifice of Kerala, Santa Cruz Basilica. It is one of the eight Basilicas in India. The basilica was built by Portuguese. In 1984 the cathedral got the status of Basilica by Pope John Paul II. The feast of Our Lady of Fatima is conducted from 26 to 31st December every year. Many people visit the basilica on the feast day and participate in the rites, candlelight procession and witness the firework display.
