It is the annual festival conducted in Vadakkumnathan Temple\, Thrissur. Celebrated in the Malayalam month of Medam(April – May). This is held in Thekkinkadu Maidhanam\, the open ground in front of Vadakkumnathan temple. Thrissur was organized by Shakthan Thampuran\, the Maharaja of Cochin with the participation of 10 temples(Paramekkavu\, Thiruvambadi Kanimangalam\, Karamucku\, Laloor\, Choorakottukara\, Panamukkampally\, Ayyanthole\, Chembukkavu\, Neythilakavu). He divided temples into two groups Paramekkavu side and Thiruvambady side.  \n  \nThe festival witness grand line up of elephants along with Kodamattam ceremony. Festival starts with Kodiyettam(flag hosting)\, 7 days before Thrissur Pooram with a light firework to celebrate the commencement of the festival. On the day of Thrissur Pooram\, vibrant colours of parasols are shifted in a rhythmic movement known as Kodamattam. Thrissur Pooram is famous for its fireworks.  People from far away places gather here on the day of Thrissur Pooram to see the fireworks and the grand festival. Fireworks continue till the next morning.
